Crimea has long stood at the crossroads of empires. For centuries, Ancient Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Crimean Tatars, Ottomans, and Russians have all left their mark on this strategically vital peninsula, making it one of the most contested and culturally layered regions of the Black Sea.

Its history is often defined by great power struggles, from the Crimean Wars of the 19th century to the dramatic events of 2014, when the appearance of the so-called “little green men” preceded the Russian annexation of the territory. These events reshaped not only Crimea but global politics and continue to influence international relations today.

Known throughout the Soviet Union as “the Jewel of the Black Sea,” Crimea earned its reputation through its mild climate, dramatic landscapes, and renowned spa resorts, attracting generations of visitors seeking rest, health, and beauty.

Your Crimea tour begins in Sochi, Russia’s largest resort city, before continuing by overnight train to Simferopol, the capital of the Republic of Crimea. From there, you will travel through historic towns and striking landscapes, meeting a local Crimean Tatar family to enjoy traditional home-cooked cuisine, and exploring remarkable sites ranging from imperial palaces to vast Soviet-era submarine bases hidden within the cliffs.
